The Villa Ocean View is set on the beach and
amidst coconut palm trees and offers guests a
good standard of service and accommodation. Away
from the hotel there is not much to do apart from
shopping in Kalutara where all the members of
our party bought large amounts of designer t-shirts.
There are a few shops inside the hotel complex
as well as a few over the road but they do tend
to sell the same stuff. Trips are a must especially
the over night to Kandy and to the Elephant Orphanage.
The accommodation is divided into two with cabana
blocks housing our rooms and the main hotel. The
rooms are spacious with loads of wardrobe and
draw space. All rooms have air conditioning and
ceiling fans which if left on can lead to artic
conditions. There is a mini bar which is filled
on request and a balcony with table and chairs
all overlooking the pool or on the ground floor
leading direct onto the gardens. The bathrooms
are clean with shower and bath. Towels and sheets
are changed daily and beds are turned down, rooms
sprayed with mosquito spray and flowers left on
your pillow every evening.
Food at the hotel is superb with all meals being
buffet style. The choices are enormous and cater
very well for all types of tastes including vegetarians.
Bread selections cooked fresh are offered at every
meal and the sweets are too die for. It is possible
to eat for nearly 15 hours a day unless you have
room service then you can eat for 24 hours.
